The company Coulisse specialises in window decorations and is prominently located on the busy A1 motorway while at the same time being deeply rooted in the Dutch province of Twente. This contrast is echoed in the designs of the architect Erwin Kleinsman and Vonder’s interior design. The positioning of the office furniture creates a rhythmic repetition of cupboards and tables, all of which are made from American walnut, based on the Library collection and the Quarto collection by Vonder. In the Coulisse inspiration centre, located nearby in Dock 36, the main wood type used is natural wenge.
Christiaan Roetgering is founder and director of Coulisse: “The architectural design of our office is open, and that reflects the culture of our company. The interior, with its uncomplicated lines, offers on the one hand a classical regularity and structure while on the other remaining quite modern. This, I find, lends a wonderful sense of balance. We have done our best to create a pleasurable working environment since that helps you to both feel and perform better. There is a luxurious use of space which you don’t often see in The Netherlands.”
