Woodland villa in Apeldoorn

An extension has been added to this traditional woodland home, with Studio Océan designing the interior to create a single harmonious whole. A brutalist architectonic style that blends seamlessly with the house’s original features. A variety of materials come together in the kitchen, with each element naturally contributing to the overall effect: powerful, expressive purity, stripped back to its essence. Thanks to the contrast with the back wall, the stainless steel island stands out as a distinct feature. At the heart of the wall of appliances stands another imposing block of stainless steel, flanked on both sides by storage cupboards made of smoked eucalyptus wood. The available space is utilised efficiently with a concealed spice rack. On the back wall, Vonder added coloured frosted-glass panels to soften the appearance of the hard material.

A recessed alcove marks the transition between the spaces, and transforms a functional partition into an artistic focal point where natural materials and refined craftsmanship meet. An eye-catching walnut wall unit, featuring half-lap joints and subtle curves, forms the centrepiece of the dining area, while the coordinated lamp suspended above the dining table reflects the warmth of the material. In partnership, they create a sense of harmony in a space that has been designed for spending quality time together. In the bedroom, the stylish bed frame is also crafted from smoked eucalyptus.
